AIA Austin 2024 Design Excellence Conference

The AIA Austin Design Excellence Conference delivers dynamic content through renowned keynote speakers, inspiring breakout sessions, and local project tours, all focused on sustainability, resiliency, and inclusive design through the lens of AIA's Framework for Design Excellence.
The City We Want; the City We Deserve
Austin is well past its inflection point. Touted internationally as one of the most desirable places to live and work in the United States, Austin is increasingly unaffordable, segregated, and inequitable. This is a moment where our decisions as designers must meet the need for change, innovation, and equity. It is time for architects to reclaim their role as activists. The AIA Austin Design Excellence Conference 2024 will explore these themes in two days of compelling courses, with a broad range of speakers and panels that interrogate the future of our cities – their public spaces, transportation, and housing. The theme is intentionally broad, embracing discussions about emerging technologies, code changes, housing solutions, and sustainability.
Urban environments should serve as havens for humanity. Let’s explore how to get there.
